Foundation Staff Leadership with Confluence Philanthropy and EarthShare
Sierra Club Foundation is pleased to announce the appointment of two staff members to leadership positions with Confluence Philanthropy and EarthShare, organizations with which the Foundation has had enduring and rewarding relationships over many years. Confluence Philanthropy’s mission is to transform the practice of investing by aligning capital with our community’s values of sustainability, equity, and justice. EarthShare represents the Sierra Club Foundation and over 500 other environmental nonprofits in workplace giving campaigns across the country and fosters employee engagement partnerships to help individuals and organizations engage in impact-focused opportunities that protect the health of people and the planet.
Executive Director Dan Chu has been elected chair of the Confluence Philanthropy board of directors. Dan joined the board in 2019 and has helped with their new multi-year strategic plan that centers social and climate justice as fundamental pillars for investing and deploying capital. “I am excited to help the network of Confluence’s investors and managers lead the shift of trillions of dollars from an extractive to a restorative and just economy,” Dan says.
Assistant Director, Programs and Compliance Ting Lee was appointed chair of the EarthShare board of directors. She has been a member of the board for over five years and has served on the Governance and Executive committees. As chair, Ting will preside at all meetings of the board, appoint directors to board committees, and ensure that the direction of the board is carried into effect. Current priorities include achieving a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive network of people, businesses, and member organizations working together to ensure a healthy and sustainable environment, and developing programs that channel the passion within the evolving workforce into positive and tangible impact in the communities where we live and work. “I am excited to have this platform to advance the shared goals of Sierra Club Foundation and EarthShare with its network of more than 500-member organizations to protect and improve the natural and human environment and work toward a just, healthy future for all of us,” says Ting.
Kudos and congratulations to Dan and Ting!
